Awaiting the Lightning

There's nothing like enjoying black cherry ice cream with red wine and some chocolate chip cookies in bed while reading the newly released Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince as the windows resonate from the howling winds of the largest typhoon to hit the island since 2000. Typhoon Haitang registers as a Category 5 on a five-step storm scale and has maximum sustained winds of 115 mph and gusts of up to 141 mph. Weather conditions are expected to worsen as the massive typhoon that is larger than the island of Taiwan itself sweeps over the nation during the midnight hours, so there will certainly be no shortage of intense medical action at the hospital tomorrow.

Snuggling underneath the covers to read a good book during a powerful thunderstorm has always been one of my favorite pastimes. But perhaps it's time I put down Harry and prepare myself for the arduous new week ahead by going to bed.

sounds like heaven!! I'm trying to refrain from reading it 24/7, since I'm supposed to be studying for step 2!

Ah, why resist? It's easier to succumb and finish it all and then go study for Step 2!

Good luck on it!

what's a spoiler with out character conflict and development?

you need to ask the question, WHY does snape kill dumbledore. shouldn't his allegiance to the academy force him to chose death over murder, if he's so proud of his title of a prince???

Jesus. Typhoon. That sounds amazing, in a creeoy life-threatening kind of way, perhaps. I bought a new rain jacket on sale and ever since it's been horribly sunny, which I take as a personal insult as I've been looking for an opportunity to wear said jacket.

*creepy, rather.

I'd invite you to come over here to wear the rain coat, but this morning when I stepped out, the winds were so strong I actually saw it topple a tree. Maybe next time when there are only light showers?

We only had a storm like that once in Los Angeles, as I can recall. It was a bit scary, especially walking round my college campus (where there was an alarming amount of unstable objects just begging to be blown onto my head).

Reading in bed during a storm sounds nice, but ice cream + cookies + wine sounds like a stomachache, doc.

Ah hush and just let me be.

Besides, said combination (see, I try to speak your language, LoL) can be used to set some very erotic moods.

Mmm... Cherry ice cream, red wine, chocolate chip cookies? Sounds awesome. Are you a fan of Ben & Jerry's Cherry Garcia?

[info]amasashi

July 18 2005, 03:26:50 UTC 6 years ago

It is awesome. Especially when paired with the largest typhoon in 5 years and Mr. Potter.

Oh I'm a fan of Ben & Jerry's, but we don't get that here. Just Dreyers, which is really good and reasonably priced. Haagen-Dazs too, but that's too expensive.

OK, when you come back to the States, you and I are going out for a Cherry Garcia at Ben & Jerry's. I think you may be the only one of my friends who would appreciate that flavor as much as I do. :)

Did you know Dreyer's is called Edy's on the East Coast?

[info]amasashi

July 18 2005, 08:18:24 UTC 6 years ago

Alright, deal!

Edy's, eh? Personally I prefer Dreyer's. It just sounds better.

Dreyer's does sound better, but then it often gets confused with Breyer's... Breyer's is good, but their Natural Vanilla is excellent. It's my favorite ice cream-- even beating out Cherry Garcia-- and I don't even like vanilla.

Your night sounds wonderful.

July 18 2005, 03:44:57 UTC 6 years ago

It was. But then I had to put down the book and go to sleep to get up way early in the morning and go save people who've been wounded or are on the verge of dying from the typhoon that toppled a quarter of the trees in the city.

Sigh, the real world sucks. I miss Hogwarts.
